Key Points:
  • Bitwise files for the first Aptos ETF.
  • Aptos price surged 30% post-announcement.
  • Potential for significant institutional capital inflow.

Bitwise Asset Management filed a historic S-1 registration with the U.S. SEC on October 4, 2025, aiming to launch the first-ever spot ETF for Aptos (APT).

The application signals increased institutional interest in Layer-1 blockchains and resulted in a significant APT price surge, indicating potential market shifts.

Bitwise Asset Management

Bitwise Asset Management has filed an S-1 form with the SEC to launch the first Aptos ETF. This move aims to introduce Aptos to mainstream U.S. financial products. The filing was confirmed by Bitwise CEO.

Bitwise, known for pioneering regulated crypto investments, is behind the initiative. CEO Hunter Horsley expressed excitement over Aptos’ growing ecosystem. Aptos Labs, developed from Facebook’s Diem initiative, is rapidly increasing its developer base.

The ETF filing led to a nearly 30% surge in Aptos’ APT price, highlighting enhanced market demand and liquidity. Institutional interest in Aptos has shown significant growth following the announcement.

Should the SEC greenlight the ETF, significant institutional capital might enter Aptos and similar Layer-1 assets. Previous BTC and ETH ETF introductions resulted in increased liquidity during U.S. trading hours.

Hunter Horsley highlighted a positive response to the ETF filing. Previous ETF launches serve as benchmarks for potential institutional engagement, enhancing demand and liquidity. The Aptos ETF could facilitate substantial capital inflow into Layer-1 assets. SEC’s review process includes liquidity assessments and proof-of-reserves audits, which will determine the ETF’s market impact.
