Key Points:
  • Keone Hon warns users about phishing ads.
  • Scam ads mimic Monad claim portal.
  • User funds at risk due to scams.

Monad’s co-founder Keone Hon warns users about phishing ads targeting their Telegram channel ahead of the October 14, 2025, airdrop.

The warning highlights ongoing security issues in crypto airdrops, underscoring vulnerabilities in widely-used platforms and the need for user vigilance to prevent financial losses.

Monad co-founder Keone Hon has issued a warning regarding phishing advertisements appearing in the project’s official Telegram channel. Ahead of the scheduled airdrop on October 14, 2025, users are urged to be cautious of suspicious links.

Keone Hon highlighted that these phishing ads, resembling Monad’s claim portal, could lead users to fraudulent sites. He emphasized the need to triple-check information before making decisions. Here’s a pertinent quote from Keone:

Do not act with urgency, and always triple-verify before doing anything.

Kevin McCordic, head of growth, reiterated the importance of alertness against scams.

Financial implications are notable as the MON token pre-market trades suggest a fully diluted valuation of $7 billion. Although the token is not yet officially live, the potential for loss remains if users engage with fraudulent sites.

Similar past scams targeted Arbitrum and Optimism, leading to significant losses. Although no chain theft of MON tokens has been confirmed, scammers might exploit user wallets connected to phishing sites.

Further incidents like this highlight the persistent threats in the crypto space. Telegram remains a common vector for scams, with over $12 million lost in 2025 alone.

With the crypto industry keenly observing, security measures and user vigilance are crucial. Past phishing events on similar platforms have highlighted how susceptible users can be if not properly informed.
